Need to Find a Full-Service Auto Center?
Spring is here! This means that your vehicle survived winter and it’s now time to give it a little extra attention before the heat of summer arrives! Schedule a visit to your auto shop for a full inspection of your vehicle. You want to be as safe as possible, whether it’s on a long road trip or a short commute to work.
In addition to planning where you want to go and what you want to see, you need to know that the key ingredient to a stress-free road trip is making Are that any maintenance or repairs have been taken care of at the appropriate intervals. Although your car may see that nothing is wrong, there could be problems hidden under the hood.
Here’s a list of five common problems that your auto shop can check out for you:
- Leaking Fluids. If the engine is leaking oil, you will see dark brown spots under the car. Greenish fluid under the car indicates coolant/antifreeze is leaking from the radiator or hoses.
- Noisy Brakes. Squealing, squeaking, or metal-on-metal grinding sounds are indicators that the brake pads, rotors, or calipers have become worn out and need to be replaced.
- Unusual Sounds. Rumbling or sputtering sounds usually indicate a problem in the exhaust system—a hole in the muffler or a failing catalytic converter. As the drive belt or serpentine belt becomes brittle or frayed, you will hear chirping or screeching sounds coming from under the hood. Don’t wait for these belts to break while driving down the road.
- Humming, growling, or roaring tires. These are sounds you may hear when tread becomes worn down too far, a wheel bearing has gone bad, or the tires are out-of-round.
- Dashboard lights. You will see warning lights on the instrument panel illuminate when the car’s onboard diagnostic system detects a problem. Call your auto shop to schedule a diagnostic test as soon as possible.
