Expert Car Care Inc.

There may be times when it seems that some car service items aren’t really necessary because your car seems to be running just fine. In addition to auto insurance, fuel, and basic oil changes, it may be difficult to set aside a certain amount in your monthly budget for car service and repair. The truth is, regular car service can actually save you money by preventing major repairs.

So why is car repair so expensive, you ask? Here are some issues to consider:

  1. Replacing parts – The cost depends largely on the manufacturer who makes them and where they come from.
  2. Replacing tires – Good quality tires are higher in price. When it comes to tires, you get what you pay for!
  3. Brake replacement – The cost depends on which components need to be replaced—the pads, the rotors, the calipers, or all three. The longer you wait to replace pads, the more chance of damage to the rotors.
  4. Replacing fluids – Although the cost of oil changes is relatively low, it needs to be done between every three to six months. All other fluids, including coolant, brake fluid, transmission fluid, transmission fluid, etc., need to be flushed and replaced periodically. It is well worth the cost of a few hundred dollars instead of paying out thousands for engine or transmission repair.
  5. Safety systems and technology – New technology on today’s vehicles, such as blind-spot monitoring, lane-changing sensors, touch screens, and auto braking, not only add to the price of the car, but also to the cost of maintenance and repair.
  6. New Materials – Cars are now being made out of materials that make them more fuel efficient, such as using aluminum instead of steel.
  7. Bodywork and paint – Bodywork, such as fixing a bent fender or re-painting a panel, is a little costly, but will keep your car looking brand-new!

The make and model of your car, its age, the average number of miles you drive each year, and your driving habits, are all factors that play a role in how much you spend on basic car service.
